DESCRIPTION: It's here--The Internet and the Telephone have combined into a live, facilitated, interactive (synchronous) distance learning format--the Facilitated Online TeleClass. The complaints about strictly self-paced Internet E-learning and Computer-Based Training have been heard. Feedback from these learners is often negative: "This course is boring!" "I want to have discussion around this topic!" "I can't seem to ever complete an on-line course!" FACT: Adults learn best in chunks and from a variety of learning modalities. All e-learning or all classroom learning is too one-dimensional and limited in its effectiveness.

YOU GET A LIVE INSTRUCTOR IN REAL TIME: The new Facilitated Online TeleClass format combines a skilled, professional workshop leader with a group of distance learners through use of the telephone and the Internet. Softer skills, like communication, time mastery, change management, etc. can now be effectively delivered through a Facilitated Online TeleClass. A Facilitated Online TeleClass provides such things as group discussion, document exchange, pairs activities, paper/pencil activities, chat room activities, e-mail partnering--all those "connections" we like about traditional classroom learning. A Facilitated Online TeleClass is usually delivered in multiple one hour learning segments, depending upon your learning objectives and your schedule.

DISTANCE LEARNING ANSWER: We think learning by Facilitated Online TeleClass is the answer to groups of people who work together and are located at different sites, cities, and/or countries, and find it difficult to get together for a traditional classroom event. All it requires is a telephone, maybe a computer and a compatible meeting time. 

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: Separate (or compatible) telephone and Internet connections, Internet modem connection of 28.8 or higher, and Internet Explorer or Netscape browser.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Mary Jo Huard, of Southwest Training Institute, is a versatile Online TeleClass Facilitator. She has years of training experience in both technical and soft skills teaching. Her energy comes from a strong passion for using technology to improve lives, a belief in lifelong learning, and desire for constant improvement in both human development and system technology. In the corporate arena, Mary Jo has worked as an internal trainer and consultant for a major Texas electronics company and was the former Director of Training and Development for a large organization. 

Mary Jo is an active member of the International Association of Facilitators, Society for Human Resource Management, the American Society for Training & Development, the International Coaching Federation, and the International TeleWork Association and Council.

TELECLASS TUITION: Tuition for each TeleClass varies by learning topic and the content included, but is usually in the $199-$299 per person range. TeleClass tuition includes an online learning experience and/or hard copy learning guide together with a 90-minute facilitated, interactive TeleClass.
